If you have mold build up in your vehicle, you are NOT THE FIRST! We do in the range of 20 or 30 Mold Remediation services per year and normally in the winters and early spring. This is a common occurrence in cities with as much humidity as Vancouver. Mold does however mean that there is an excess amount of moisture entering the vehicle and that typically means a leak either in the roof, floorboard, windshield or door/trunk seals. The leaks must be found and fixed prior to bringing the vehicle in for service or whatever work we do to fix the mold will reoccur when additional moisture enters the vehicle.

This is a very intensive service that requires specialty products and equipment that we use only for mold remediation. It is important that we look to remove every spore in the vehicle as it will grow and spread very quickly again with even the smallest amount of moisture. Mold thrives in warm, damp areas like the lungs or eyes, so we use respirators with mold filters, full body suits, gloves and eye protection that are disposed of at the end of the service as they are one-time-use and contaminated once the service is complete. This service includes a full enzyme treatment inside the vehicle followed by a complete Interior detail service. It is often recommended the vehicle stay overnight so that the interior can be dried out completely by our high-volume air movers. Mold may also leave a bad smell, and in this case it is also recommended to have an Ozone Treatment performed on the vehicle to remove the smell.
DO NOT drive your vehicle longer than absolutely necessary when there is mold present. It is extremely bad for your health and respiratory system. Mold can stain. Although we may have removed all of the mold, black mold in particular will stain and the stain cannot be removed. Mold can get into the underlay of a vehicles carpet.
